Oasys Mobile is turning celebrity snafus into irreverent ring tones for cell phones.
Oasys’ first “ScandalTone” depicts Mel Gibson’s profanity-laden tirade after his drunken-driving arrest in July. Its second spoofs party girl Paris Hilton’s arrest for the same offense Sept. 7. Both ring tones are free from the company’s Web site, www.oasysmobile.com.

Ringtones 101
The latest in wireless phones are products created with advanced computer technology increasing power and memory. A couple of free ring tones are so easy to install that they can be a lot of fun. With cut-throat competition, manufacturers will resort to any extra edge over others. Not that there’s nothing wrong with the regular ringtones, except that they can easily get so much more fun than they are. Wireless phones support two basic types of ringtones, monophonic and polyphonic. Monophonic ringtones play a single instrument while with polyphonic, multiple instruments can be played together. Try them out for yourself by choosing tunes in any phone that supports them.
For installing polyphonic ringtones, your phone needs to be WAP enabled. The ringtone is sent to your mobile which you save. Exit your WAP browser and follow the instructions on your phone to select your tune as the default ringtone.
